Cybersecurity Fundamentals for Space

Securing Space from the Ground Up

The Space Domain is no longer isolated and neither are its threats. Defending space systems requires more than traditional cybersecurity. This course prepares professionals to understand the full mission and tackle the unique challenges of cybersecurity from a space-based perspective.

Upon successful completion, graduates earn a Credly Digital Badge and a certificate letter documenting 36 contact hours, which may be used to claim continuing education credits.

Duration

Five days of live instruction, labs, and a capstone exercise, with a final assessment included. Available as a full week or in an evening format spread over several weeks.

Audience

Open to all experience levels. Ideal for cybersecurity professionals, engineers venturing into space ops, and aspiring architects of secure space enterprises.

The Cybersecurity Fundamentals for Space (CFS) program is an ANAB-accredited certificate program delivered by CT Cubed Inc., the accredited certificate issuer, in accordance with ANSI/ANAB E2659.

The certificate is valid for 3 years from issuance. The minimum passing score on the summative exam is 75%.

SPARTA

Students apply Aerospace Corporation's SPARTA framework to map threats, identify attack techniques, and apply countermeasures across space mission segments.

Capstone

Powered by the IRON GALAXY Space Cyber Range, the capstone is an interactive live exercise where participants serve as Satellite Operators and Analysts in a multi-round team competition. Over several rounds, students operate and monitor their virtual satellite for evidence of compromise, reacting in real-time to evolving threats.

IRON GALAXY Space Cyber Range

IRON GALAXY is a full-stack space cyber range that provides a high-fidelity emulation of the entire satellite mission chain. It models every component of a space operation, including spacecraft, ground stations, Mission Operations Centers (MOCs), and planning systems, using real industry satellite command and control tools like Yamcs and COSMOS.

IRON GALAXY operates with CCSDS space packet protocols, realistic orbital mechanics, pass windows, and distributed ground stations with complex routing. This trains defenders to translate network events into mission impact, not just focus on computers, but understand mission degradation. Students learn to fight through cyber attacks and understand why secure design of space systems is vital to building resilient space enterprises.
